April Theme - Flow
“Panta rhei” (Everything Flows) — Heraclitus
This month, we dedicate our practice to the theme of “Flow.”
We let our bodies yield to the flow of our asana practice.
We rest our awareness on the flow of our breath as our thoughts come and go.
We let strong emotions flow through us and release them.
We embrace the flow of life as it is, not as we wish it to be (which is different from planning and working toward our goals).
As the ancient Greek philosopher said, the universe is in a state of constant flow and motion. Nothing is permanent.
The weather in Seattle always reminds us of this: that the rain can stop. And begin again.
No matter how entrenched, fixed and heavy some things may feel, in time, they have a way of disintegrating, seemingly disappearing or transmuting into something else.
The sooner we align ourselves to this universal truth, the more we find beauty, rather than sorrow and discontent, in the transient nature of things.
Let it flow, and let it go.
