GENTLE CHAIR YOGA
Contrary to the name of the class, we do not spend the entire class sitting in a chair. We simply use the chair as a prop like any other. We generally start class seated in the chair for warm up movements and stretches. Then we progress to a vinyasa flow sequence from standing, but utilizing the chair to lessen the weight on the wrists during plank and downward dog positions. Then we proceed to standing and balance poses, with the option of using the chair for stabilization. The latter portion of class includes floor poses and wind down, followed by savasana. With gentle stretches and movements using a chair, this class is appropriate for all levels and abilities, whether you’re seeking a gentle practice, are recovering from an injury or illness, need to limit your time bearing weight on the hands/arms, or any other number of reasons. As mentioned, we will begin with seated warmups, then move on to standing poses, gentle flows, and assisted balances. Most of all, we will have fun!
